SMART

SMART programs support girls’ academic success by providing hands-on, mentor-driven explorations of STEM fields.

Smart Programs (Academic Enrichment)

Girls are academically engaged and connect academics to life experiences, opportunities and careers. We advocate to narrow the gender-based pay and leadership gaps and disrupt the cycle of poverty:

  • STEM: Through hands-on workshops girls gain first-hand knowledge of STEM concepts. Girls learn to problem solve, think critically, be curious, and apply what they learn to solve real world problems.
  • Eureka: Eureka! is Girls Inc.’s five-year science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education program, which enrolls a new cohort of 25 rising eighth graders each year and continues through their senior year of high school. Read more about Eureka here…
  • College and Career Readiness: Between high school and college/career, girls must stay focused on their goals, keep track of tasks necessary to complete college enrollment, and make decisions about finances, housing, wellness and relationships.
  • Economic and Financial Literacy: GISD provides activities that require financial problem solving. We help students become strong financial decision makers.
