Bold Programs (Life Skills, Leadership and Community Action)

Bold girls display character and confidence and are ready to lead independent and fulfilling lives. GISD addresses systemic barriers faced by girls of color, recognizing that without support, millions of girls who could be tomorrow’s leaders will not get the chance.

• Leadership: Girls gain confidence to use their voice by learning public speaking skills, and how to work in teams. The program includes professional guest speakers that share their experiences with community organizing around specific goals and causes aimed at community solutions.
• Seeds of Change: A social justice program that introduces girls to issues of gender and racial inequity that directly and indirectly affects them and their communities. Girls also learn the beginning steps of community organizing and grassroots change at local levels.
