On March 4, Girls Inc. of San Diego County partnered with the IT women’s group at Qualcomm to host more than 20 high school girls at Qualcomm’s Thinkabit Lab for our first Coding Party. The two-hour event inspired and ignited a desire to learn computer programming. Girls who attended had a diverse level of experience with coding – some had little or no knowledge, others had successfully completed AP Computer Science courses. During the event, the attendees learned the basics of Python, a widely used programming language and worked on Google’s Made With Code projects.
Each attendee came out of the event knowing how computer programming would benefit their careers as they all agreed to continue developing their skills.
